CIT makes it possible for you to reach your audience – be it a few or thousands.  We can design, produce and deliver your audio and video materials via broadcast, DVD, CD-ROM, and the Internet using podcasting, streaming and/or Breeze Web conferencing.

Our new television and radio studios and mobile television production van and editing suites are now high definition equipped to provide the highest quality video and audio.

Distance education

If you are looking for more freedom in teaching your courses via distance, CIT can help you.  We have two fully equipped television classrooms in Chase Hall (room 112, seats 48; and room 116, seats 100) that provide access to all the technology you are accustomed to using. You can deliver your course via podcasting, video streaming, live on satellite and/or on DVD.

CIT also has access to UniversityHouse Channel (9411) on Dish Network. This gives you direct access to students in their homes anywhere in the United States. Advanced notice is required so time can be scheduled with the UniversityHouse Channel.

We can have your recorded course ready for students to download in just a few hours.

Podcasting

A podcast is a Web feed of audio (such as radio programs) or video files (such as courses) placed on the Internet for anyone to download and use on mobile devices or personal computers.  Podcasters’ Web sites may offer direct download, but using either RSS or Atom syndication allows new content to be automatically delivered to subscribers. This is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming. Usually, the podcast features one type of program with new episodes either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily, weekly, etc.

Contact us to discuss how you might use podcasting.

Radio broadcasting

Nebraska Ag Almanac, the longest running University of Nebraska radio program, provides you contact with an established radio audience. Many of the 24 radio stations that broadcast Ag Almanac air it at a specific time Monday through Friday, guaranteeing your information will be heard at a scheduled time.

Generally, radio material is mailed to broadcast outlets on Wednesday afternoons for release the following week. We can get your information to radio stations within just a few hours via an e-mailed MP3 file or on radionews.unl.edu

Video production

(instructional and student recruitment materials)
CIT now produces in high definition, the new standard in television broadcasting. Your video production will have the great look and feel that high definition is known for. Videos can be made available on DVD, through iTunes podcasting and/or on your departmental Web sites.

Many of our video productions have won awards. Contact us to find out more.

Tape transfer to DVD and DVD duplication

We can transfer VHS and S-VHS video tape to DVD.  We no longer make VHS video tape copies but will be happy to suggest outside vendors who can do it for you.

CIT can duplicate DVDs and/or process large orders for you as well. We can help you select cases, design the artwork that is printed onto the disk and on the case insert, if needed. Our DVDs are duplicated on premium DVD blanks to help ensure high quality reproduction.

Pay-per-view for conferences and workshops

Pay-per-view can increase registration numbers for your conferences, workshops and meetings by making your event available to those who want the information but cannot attend.

Your event can be offered live and/or as a podcast or DVD. Live and online events are password protected, and you will be able to verify who has participated, if needed for CCU credits.

Contact us to learn more about the available options.

Video conferencing

CIT offers three ways to reach audiences via video conferencing.

Live satellite broadcasts can reach 57 extension downlink sites around Nebraska, as well as downlink sites throughout the world. CIT has broadcast several conferences internationally.

We can also produce your meetings to run over the PolyCom Systems.

Breeze Web conferencing delivers information to individuals right at their desks. Breeze delivers high resolution graphics with good sound. A direct link to the conference from your Web site(s) makes it easy for participants to find the event. A Breeze conference can be made available as a pay-per-view event if you wish.

Video streaming can deliver your conference directly to desktops anywhere people have a broadband Internet connection. It is possible to deliver it as pay-per-view event.

All events are archived online at WebVideo.unl.edu. The site is searchable and material can be password protected if necessary.

Remote video production

We can produce your conference from almost anywhere by using our new high-definition three-camera mobile production van.  In some cases we can broadcast your event live from your venue. Contact us to visit about your options.

Many conferences are recorded, then placed on Web sites, broadcast to additional audiences at a later date or made into a DVD for distribution.

Television broadcasting

Backyard Farmer, Backyard Farmer Extra and Market Journal are well known University of Nebraska - Lincoln Extension television programs.  They are broadcast over Nebraska’s public television networks, NET1 and NET2. In addition, they are available online and attract high numbers of visitors each week. Market Journal is also broadcast nationally via Dish Network’s UniversityHouse Channel.

The lawn and garden programs Backyard Farmer and Backyard Farmer Extra attract large audiences in the Lincoln and Omaha metro areas, as well as in rural Nebraska. Visitors to the Web site can ask a lawn and garden question, which prompts the site to bring up the Backyard Farmer segment that answers the question.
Market Journal reaches nearly 70 percent of Nebraska farm and ranch households each week.  This award winning program bills itself as “television for ag business decisions.” Faculty from every IANR department participate in the program each year.

Contact us if you have information for this large farm and ranch audience

Grant projects

If you’re writing a grant that includes producing video materials, let us know. We can talk with you about your options and the associated costs so you can adequately prepare your grant.  This helps ensure that when it comes time to produce the video, you have the money to do what you want. (We do charge all grant projects for audio and video production – BUT our rates are very reasonable.)
